China Railway Dongguan Line #1 track wiring construction project
Dongguan Rail Transit Line 1, (formerly known as Line R1), is a subway line built after Dongguan Rail Transit Line 2. [1] Construction of the line began in 2019 with a total construction period of five years and is expected to open to traffic as early as 2024. The line will have 40 stations and will connect the Guangzhou Metro network with the Shenzhen metro network.

Originally planned as an express line connecting Guangzhou and Shenzhen with only a few stations, Line 1 was expanded to 24 stations after several revisions, and was reduced to 21 stations when the EIA was applied for approval.
Phase I of Line 1
On April 12, 2022, the website of the National Development and Reform Commission published the reply on the adjustment of the second phase construction planning scheme of Dongguan Urban Rail Transit, and agreed in principle to make appropriate adjustments to the second phase Construction Planning of Dongguan Urban Rail Transit (2013-2019) (referred to as the Plan).
The first phase of Line 1 starts at Wanghong Station and ends at Huangjiang Central Station, with a total length of 57.5 kilometers. After adjustment, the underground line is increased from 28.0 kilometers to 49.4 kilometers. The total investment is increased from 34.64 billion yuan to 37.98 billion yuan, among which the direct project investment is increased from 16.75 billion yuan to 23.92 billion yuan. [3]
After the completion of Line 1, it will be connected to the Guangzhou-Shenzhen line network, and it will only take about one hour for Dongguan citizens to take the subway to Guangzhou or Shenzhen.
On July 21, 2014, the reporter learned from the Dongguan City Rail Office that the rail transit Line 1 originally planned to start construction has entered the stage of environmental impact assessment, and the next step will be to carry out the feasibility study report of the project. Only after all the processes are carried out smoothly will the construction start.
On May 25, 2022, the project of Dongguan Rail Transit Line 1 achieved a major node breakthrough, and the tunnel between Central Square Station and Hongfu Road station was connected by double lines.
